Major Responsibilities:
Community Mobilization and Integrated Health Promotion:
- In collaboration and cooperation with the community facilitator of the health zone community leaders and community volunteers, organize community dialogues, focus group discussions, household visits and mass awareness sessions.
- Providing technical support to community volunteers to promote routine immunization, reduction of zero-dose and under-vaccinated children.
- Sensitize communities on AFP (Acute Flaccid Paralysis), Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs), Priority Zoonotic Diseases (PZD) as well as other essential family practices
- Promote early Antenatal Care “ANC” (4+ visits), facility-based delivery, Postnatal Care “PNC” within 48 hours, and child follow-up (0–59 months).
- Promote exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding and community Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) screening.
- Advocacy with community leaders, religious leaders, traditional healers, and influential individuals for their involvement in promotional activities
- Address misinformation and vaccine hesitancy through culturally appropriate communication.
- Contribute to the community volunteers training on community-based surveillance and the RPCE
Community-Based Surveillance and Early Detection:
- Provide support to community volunteers in actively identifying cases of AFP, VPD, PZD, and malnutrition at the community level, as well as other promotional activities at healthcare facilities.
- Immediately notify any suspected AFP, VPD, malnutrition or zoonotic case.
- Ensure alerts are reported within 24 hours.
- Participate in surveillance simulation exercises and outbreak preparedness activities.
- Participate in RPEC meetings at the zonal level
Referral System Strengthening and Continuum of Care:
- Facilitate the referral of suspected cases of AFP, PVD, zoonoses, malnutrition, and pregnant women to health facilities.
- Follow up referred cases until feedback is received.
- Document barriers to access (distance, insecurity, cost, rumors).
- Collaborate with health area supervisors to improve feedback mechanisms.
Data Collection, Reporting and Quality Assurance:
- Support weekly community data collection and reporting.
- Ensure completeness and consistency of reporting tools.
- Support use of digital tools (ODK/mobile data collection).
- Participate in monthly performance review meetings.
- Participate in the draft situation reports and other reports to be sent to the provincial level
Learning, Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Document monthly success stories and beneficiary testimonies.
- Identify promising community practices.
- Share lessons learned with SBCC Coordinator and health zone teams.
- Provide real-time documentation of all communication activities carried out at the health area level
Profil recherché
University degree in health and community development, Social Sciences, Sociology, Communication for Development, Medical Sciences, public health and other related studies
Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus note, Microsoft Teams, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, etc.
At least Three years experiences working in international NGOs
At least two years experiences in health program management, in immunization program, MNCH and Nutrition program is mostly preferred.
Proven experience in managing community projects
Project management and design experience
Project implementation and monitoring and evaluation
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, demonstrated leadership and good management ability.
Excellent French communication skills (oral and written).
A working knowledge of English
A working knowledge of the local language
License, registration, or certification required to perform this position:
Experience in Risk Communication and Community Engagement
Experience in Immunization and Disease surveillance
Experience in Health Zone management
Experience in a Polio eradication project
Experience in MNCH and Nutrition for u5 children
Experience in Global Health Security (GHS)
Theory of change and logical framework development
Database management, statistical skills and ability to critically evaluate health data
The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 60% of the time.
